Switzerland chapter 4

Family Connections

My cousin Anne and her husband Gerhard

They drove down to Interlaken from Zurich and we spent the evening together

A Swiss restaurant for Fondue

Anne and Me
We had hoped to go on a little hike the next day, but the weather changed our plans.
Our evening together was great.

Hard to say goodbye.   Gerhard will be 90 next year.

More cousins,
on the other side of the family
Vallee Du Joux

We traveled by train and bus.   4 hours each way.   It was a stop earlier than the directions ( a long story ), so we did not know that the party waiting at the bus stop was family !

The other girls were waving  American Flags
Finally, our Francoise came on the bus and called
Darrell
OH !  That welcome is for us !

And it was just the beginning

Table set for the party
Then came...
Salads, beverages
4 different meats, grilled by Francoise
and of course
Desserts
and coffee

 Fresh fruit

The reminiscing
It had been 22 years since the "cousins" had been to America

Delphine and her family
and her home

The street level is their Turkish restaurant...

Cousins at play
Then the walk into town.  This is a town known for quality watches.   Berney is our family name, too.

This number sells for about $4,000.
Not to be confused with the most expensive watch which sells for 25,000,000.  By Chopard ,currently based in Geneva

A little history:
Gruyere is a tourist town.  Cheese and Chocolate draw many many tourists to this small and quaint town.  Cheese and Chocolate are reasonable purchases .

Vallee Du Joux is a tourist town.  A hub for the finest watches in the world, draws a much smaller crowd.  A new 5 star hotel is being built to keep these customers happy.

And that is the chapter that explains part of the reason we traveled to Switzerland.  ( family, not the watches )

Well worth the trip.
