Marking days and weeks

The end of three weeks.

Getting to the hard part, slowly

Final day with Leo
because
Emma gets to ring the chime

We are 1/3 of our way to the final day.
Some have mixed feelings.  Emma needed to be encouraged to ring the chime.
Two others will have their final day on the same date and will be ready to ring with gusto.

For now, we are thankful for a long weekend.
and company

fun times

we were on our way to a book launch
in Federal Way
We had the directions printed out from hubby who has that kind of  a map brain
( so no need for the GPS...which we did not know how to use on this new car )

We gave ourselves an hour and a half. Never know about morning traffic.

We had lots to talk about and felt like we also had lots of time, and we did.
In fact, we had time to stop for coffee and a potty break if we came upon a McDonald's.

For some reason, we thought we MIGHT have missed  a turn.
No McDonald's in sight. We went a little farther and then since we couldn't find any better spot, we pulled into the Arco station.

A kind gentleman was able to figure out where we were going and yes, we had missed our turn.  No worries. Plenty of time.

We turn around and I begin to play with the GPS and bingo...we found out where we were and where we were going !  Right up to the final turn.

We pulled into the driveway of our destination and someone peeked out the front window, but did not come to the door.   I got out and went  a few steps to the street to see where the landmarks were.  "Just past the two power boxes."
No power boxes, but a view of the house number. OOPS.  12204, not 12240.

We quickly jump back into the car and head down the street a few more blocks.  Laughing all the way
There were the power boxes and the long driveway and...

The destination !

                                             Some of the charm inside

The real charmers ....Author and Hostess

BTW.  no wrong turns on the way back
and we don't remember any wrong turns getting there

Fun, Friendship,Food
Doesn't get any better on an ordinary day in life

and I do live an exciting life

Marking days

First day

Just less than a half hour, but had to get started on this frame.....
a few pieces were not in the right places...glad to put a few together...this is not an easy puzzle

Putting a few more pieces together today

On to week two....

Comfort comes in different ways

daring to take a peek

we have finished two weeks....aw, the weekend

The Place:

A very old cemetery

Always touching to walk around
and then thoughts go through my mind
First, I am thankful for life
There is so much to be thankful for
and then I think about those who have already entered heaven

The smallest

We do not know their stories or where they are today
Some are patriotic

Part of the setting

But we have come to show our respect to the family that has lost their father, husband, brother and also friend.

Darrell,   Claudia has cared for her husband for quite a while and just this week he passed away
Claudia's brother is on the  right.

Kelly's best friend Wanda
Helped set up the guest table for signing and was a huge support

Mother in Law and brother in law of Dave

Kelly, daughter of our friend, is in black.

There was no program.   Claudia wanted the time to be unplanned and casual.  So when she opened the mic the first comment was
He sure loved ice cream.
Then Kelly took over with the help of her two very close friends. Kelly delivered a sweet message from her uncle, Dave's brother, who was not well enough to make the trip. She also shared some thoughts that were in Dave's journal.
Another friend read some verses.
Most remembered Dave for his knowledge of the Word of God, having an unusual sense of humor and ability to speak several languages very well.

Don
First we sang some hymns

Don
Came earlier in the week to help prepare the plot
Then today, again,
uncovering the place where the remains of Dave were placed.

We sang a few more familiar hymns with the help of  a guitar

and another way to remember a day

Later we all went to a nearby restaurant and had time to visit with family and friends.

First things first

Gotcha !

Or did they get me?

Two packages of sunflower seeds, two  coloring books ,green  highlighter, two sidewalk chalk, three chocolates, Three bike reflectors, One tooth brush, One tube of toothpaste, two carabiners, Night light gizmo, Two back-to-school packets ,Two somewhat annoying  whistles, Three colored pencil packs, purple  sunglasses, red drinking glass, One packet of Band-Aids, Bath salts, blue pig  keychain, One fan, One very large chip- clip, Dental floss, Two hand sanitizers, Two little weird things, One pencil. 17 pens for Tisha’s collection, and Three tote bags.

Ok.  Here is what happened.
We were in Spokane for a very short visit and the Oxford Hotel is right along the River

Spokane is a pretty city
and has some very interesting attractions

No I am not standing on my head

The first attraction for me is

Love it !   Kind of like riding in Sabrina with the top down

Then come the vendors
It was a fair to celebrate all nations
And when people gather, so do sales people
and folks  who like little free things

 Here is one favorite
You through a bean bag and if you make it in the hole you
when a prize
Not sure how

but, I made 4 out of 5
I won this fun little night light that also connects your wifi cord !

Then, to conserve water, I promised to scrape dishes, instead of rinsing.
This qualified me for a nifty nozzle..Not in the photo above. Hubby snagged it.  It is green.

 Walking a little more

It was a warm morning so a sturdy fan was appreciated
Handed out by an eager little fellow
it reads
Celebrate Recovery. Hands across the Falls.

You never know what you mind see just around the corner
And my favorite was the Walgreen's booth
Truth be told, my favorite drug store is Bartell's and it always will be, but Walgreen's is next door to Trader Joe's
and they have a great photo department and specials
Need I say more ?
But what attracted me to this booth, was the 3 ladies who were smiling at me and offering me a tote bag
Yes, I was already carrying a big yellow tote but i said
" All God's children need another tote bag"
So Lady number one handed me a very large red tote bag and tossed in a packet of sunflower seeds.
I thanked her, telling her that I love sunflowers and hope they would grow for me.
Lady number two tossed in another packet of seeds.
I said "Thank You, the Lord Bless you"
Lady number three said  "He always does"

Turns out, We are family !

Now you know why that was my favorite booth !

And then it was time to head back to the car and on the way

like I said, you never know what might be just around the corner

random Switzerland

From here on, there is just a collection of favorites
or that odd shot that you can't remember why you took it
Here goes

Caught in the act  ...someone drinking Coke !

Often signs are in English and home language

Welcome  lobby of restaurant and hotel

The car we did not have to rent, but what a beauty

We think it was a wedding

White shoes ↓ Orange shoes ↑ wedding shoes

We know it was a 40th birthday for sister on the left

You never know when a clown might greet you on the street

Our favorite restaurant.... 3 nights.  Paris Cafe
 Grilled tiger prawns.

coming  ↑ and going ↓

Nursery here and everywhere

Across the street from our Chalet
A little taste of Home

Bellevue

Real Swiss family cooking here.
And just around the corner from our Chalet

Another reminder of home
RAIN, BUCKETS OF RAIN

Like the sign says,  this is Appenzell

Most cities have fountains to refill your water bottle

\

Dinner in the hood

Only in Geneva

I forgot about Lucerne
You can google it and find just about the same photos
But, for us, it was about being there

The have three unusual bridges
Very old and very interesting "paintings"

One of two people who were hoping for a "tip"
Not just asking for money, but entertaining

two got the memo
wear red shorts and black shirt

Along the way, only German or French newspapers but on the cover of one in large letters

NO FAKE NEWS

For some reason, we thought "we" were in the news

On our final train ride, these gentlemen were having a visit
Could not understand a word
But, they appeared to be good friends having  a great discussion

Reminding us of friends back home
Great to see the world
but we are ready to head home

So we did
