You had to be there

The Garage sale of the Century
                          6 families
                                          3  car garage
                                                          and a trailer

We are ready !

well, we thought we were ready. The 3 car garage was full of tables and goods displayed for sale. And then someone we love came. He brought this trailer and it was full of stuff and no place to put it. He was backing up to the driveway and little man was standing at the end of the garage in surprise and wonder....out of his mouth....'What in the heck!"
( you had to be there )

Well, the trailer came back on Friday and opened up for business.

Speaking of Friday.. We were expecting another family to show up early. They had many items that needed to be marked. Etc.    When they finally arrived at noon, we found out why they were delayed.    Mom thought that she could get a job together for her Dad so he could be occupied during the garage sale.  This project was making a table into another serviceable item.  The table was under an aquarium.  While taking  the aquarium off the table it fell. It broke.  It cut her son’s hand. It spilled water and fish all over the carpet.  Now we know why they were delayed.
( you could have been  there )

The sale is on ...
Yes, the bedroom set sold, but the bassinet is still available !
Just give us a call .

It is our tradition to have delicious sandwiches for lunch.
Third name on the list takes care of that.

This year we had 11 hungry “workers”. About 8 more than usual. In fact, some of the helpers realized that they could take long breaks and not be missed. So, that is when they discovered “Chopped”.  On the food network.  Kind of addicting. ( don’t ask how I know ).  But, I have to tell you that Phyllo dough basket looked so adorable. Don’t know why it got the ax just because the chicken inside was pink.

But the garage TV set was on those soccer games.
And don’t ask me about them either.
I just know that it was 4 to one for the underdog.  Yeah!

There  are always fun times when our families get together with food. OK and grandkids
                                                    the entertainment is free
                                                   and easy !
You should have been there  !

We always have interesting customers.  We love them all.
                            You know what I mean.
There was one gal who was looking at a box of Fiesta pottery pieces.
Customer: " would you consider taking less for the Fiesta ?"
Barb: " Are you familiar with Fiesta Ware?
There are extra serving pieces along with  the place settings. There is more than just a place setting "
Customer: "a simple No would have worked."
She then turned her back and left.

Then there was the customer who came into our garage with a dozen chocolate chip cookies. Oh, that's right, it was Tiffany. She had been up the street to another garage sale and found those home made beauties and decided to treat all of us.

We also have a tradition to have dinner at Red Robin

                .

Need I say more? !
Oh right, you had to be there.
                                                  better yet,
You better be there next June.

Father's Day

Holidays seem to take on a new meaning,
now that I am a little older .
so I am thinking about Father's Day a little differently
my father chose not to be  a part of my life but
I am so grateful for my grandpa.

Though there were 17 of us cousins,
I am still pretty sure I was his favorite.
                                        He called me Kassy.
A nickname always adds  an endearing quality  to a relationship.

We lived with our grandparents, so that helped to draw us closer.
He taught me the value of saving money.
He was a very hard worker.
As the only driver in the family, he took us to Sunday School during the winter months. In summer he was in Alaska.

He took me to a movie. Actually it was a double feature. An army movie. Stalage  17. Something like that anyway.
And the story of John the Baptist and Salome
He didn’t ever go to movies, and we didn’t even have a TV until I was in my early teens.  I can almost bet he never took any of  my 16 other cousins to a movie .
( I think he might have bought us popcorn, too, but I don't really remember  :) )
Other memories,  but that is enough for today.

I was almost 16 when he died and that was a very long time ago.

But I will always have good memories of my Grandpa.
Lots of good memories of my Grandpa.
 I  have 4 grandchildren
and I want them to know that they are special.
The way Grandpa made me feel.

It does not compare to the love of my Saviour.  But Jesus designed the family, and He provided my Grandpa to take the place in my life that I needed.
