You smell like Grammy

A week with little man....

just spending the night and taking him to school in the morning.

First morning..
crawls into bed with me about 6:05.
snuggles, like a banana peel and whispers
  I love you
then I say " I love you too"
he says  " You smell like Grammy"
I say  " I am Grammy"
He says, " Oh, I forgot you were going to be here "

That has made me smile all week

yes, sometimes I try to sleep with my glasses on

Second morning.

He has the directions to school in his head and tells me
" I will get you there, but on Friday, you are on your own"
Hey Grammy... three red cars together   (  he knows me )

Three counting Sabrina

Third morning

We go early, to the YMCA program, so I can scoot home, and hubby and I will ride together to Tacoma to Bible Study.
Little man hops out of the car...
" Don't forget your backpack"
oops, we left it at home
( don't tell anyone...our secret... that evening, no one said a word )
He bought his lunch, all good.

Fourth morning,

Crawled into bed with me about 2:55.   He was pretty restless all night.
In the morning, we talked about it... Wait until your clock says 6:00 tomorrow.
Two cups of Tully's  Hawaiian blend and we are on our way.
Why did I think he was not paying attention...I turned one street too soon.... we laughed

Today I pick him up from school
I say " Are you hungry?"
he says  " McDonalds"
(why am I not surprised  )

kid meal and m & m  mcflurry
He likes his cheese burger without pickle
We used the kiosk

Fifth morning
Slept in.  He came in about 6:00 and fell back to sleep.

Friday, and I remember, I am on my own...
No wrong turns
Who cares if it is a little chilly
Why have a convertible,if you can't put the top down ?!?

good byes until Sunday night.

Sunday night - Happy Birthday to Son In Law

Monday
and Last morning.... slept in... remembered backpack...remembered all the turns.
Going to miss those mornings with that little man.

Next time, his shoes might be bigger than mine
but
I hope not
I want to spend time with him again, soon

He is 7 years old

Seattle

A trip into the big city can be quite an adventure

and it was

We had reservations for dinner at a new spot
a special spot
Donna is the chef and her Mama is my very good friend
( yes, she moved back to Georgia, but I still love her )

With Restaurant Week in Seattle, we had a great reason to try

                     The Tin Table

This is the sign at the door  and then

These are the stairs you walk up

This is the entry ..the desk to the right is where you check in

This wall is between the entry and the refreshment area

And this is the view into

                                        The Tin Table

and our "window" view

It is restaurant week  and a special menu

Appetizer... shrimp and scallops

Crostini appetizer for me

Both of us chose Lamb Chops..
No regrets

Now for the reason we came tonight

Donna is on the left....

yes, it is a selfie

and yes, she should have taken another shot

but

When we go back, she ( me )  will get a better picture.
And then it was time to go home.   On our way back to our car there were a few sights we do not see in Bellevue..

Well, first we go back down the stairs...

This is the Grand Ballroom.  It has been part of the Odd Fellows building for many years
Built in 1908  /  The Century Ballroom

If you get lost,  just read the sign  " you are here "

And that is the end of my story.
And we plan to go back ...maybe on a sunny afternoon
There is much to see off  Broadway in Seattle.

Dear Marti

Thank you Marti,

Your sweet note arrived yesterday and I just have to tell the world ( well, ok, the handful of "followers" who are part of my world )

The art of  Hand Written Thank notes is still alive

And I am happy to say that I often receive notes and I save them
( if anyone takes the time and effort to write, then I want to save it for a few weeks and pray for the sender  )

This is my kitchen counter today. And all of these have blessed me recently

And, as I always say

I live an exciting life

Once again,,,

on the plane

A movie

Shocking, and harsh,  but truth.

I am partial to Cadillac's

One thing about movies on planes... can't always hear the dialogue plainly, but, pictures are worth a 1,000 words.    And, since I was told to keep my phone turned off, I snagged a couple shots and then obeyed.

Ok. that is the only clue

The story brings two proud men with very different backgrounds together.        Takes a while, but they learn from each other.
 And I learned too.

Oh, my favorite part is the end... but, I am not going to tell you. But I sure would like to know if your eyes were swimming by then.

Did you guess ?
( the title has a color in it )
Have you seen it  ?

Was it just another day?

No, not just another day.

We got to spend time with family.   That makes it a special day..... read on....

 Saturday  was a fun day.
Early start with Tanners game.  This is very elementary with the boys 5 - 7 and adult pitching and everyone gets to hit.   They are easily distracted, but have fun.  That is the way sport should be, especially at age 7 !

Then we went to the Swiss Club Hall in Monroe.

We took the scenic route...
                            Cattle country
The bluest skies you'll ever see
                                                  And beyond...

Since our visit to Switzerland, Damon has been very interested in Swiss heritage.   ( Darrell, Damon and I are all members now, but that is another story )
The Seattle Club sponsored this fondue event  ( $25 each and bring a side dish ).  So, Damon, Tiffany, Sebastian and I went.   The fondue was delicious.

There was this one couple.  I think they missed dessert.  They finished off the last drop of fondue and added a little more of the liquid ingredient and ......

There were great side dishes.

Wonderful desserts...I brought cupcakes.... sent most of them home with Damon to take to church... Sebastian was the only person under the age of about 30  ðŸ˜Š     But he seemed to enjoy the time.    Someone brought several boxes of Swiss memorabilia  to give away. They are moving.

So we brought home two records, two candles, one t shirt and one egg cup.  Sebastian brought home a game
Everything is in German, so ↓  they made up their own rules.

It started at 3 and was over about 5:30.  So we had time to head over the the mall and listen to the music. The man at the keyboard recognized us   ( I think I know why, but don't ask )  He is more "entertaining" in a different way, than our favorite Andy  Markovick , but that is another story.     Tonight he wore a dark blue kimono style jacket.   Last time, he was all in red. Back in my kitchen

Yes, I am back in my kitchen and tonight I am wearing my very fullest red and white apron.
It is not only very cute, but it covers the subject, and it could get messy.

First on the agenda, chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting.
because....

We are Swiss, and we are going to a Swiss Club Fondue event tomorrow.
did you know that the two words that come to mind first in a Swiss mind?

Chocolate     and        Cheese.

The cupcakes are in the oven and the mix was in a box.  No worries about that.    The frosting, also chocolate, also in a box.  So no worries.

But
Next on the agenda

Hamantaschen
I have to try again.   I have poppy seed filling waiting from last week.
I have a new recipe and it says that it is the best recipe ever.
But, just in case,
I will stop writing for now.

post

Head back into the kitchen and....

Haman in my kitchen

It seemed like Haman was in my kitchen tonight.

Here is what happened.

Since it is the month of Purim...everyone knows that...and since I was in Israel for Purim a few years ago, I have felt like celebrating Purim.
That involves Hamantaschen.  Haman's ears,  Haman's hat, or whatever.
Haman who was so cocky and arrogant  in the King's palace.

So I put on my best most appropriate apron....It is my Easter apron , like Esther, like the Queen who caught Haman in his evil act.

I have a recipe that I used several years ago and with all the notes I had made I was pretty excited about making them again.
I will be brief at this point.
The dough was very sticky and.....
that was when I thought Haman had been in my kitchen...so I took charge and added some flour to the next tray and they are much prettier.
Truth be told, they all tasted good.  I know, because I tasted two or three of them right then and there.

Next week, I want to try another recipe...If anyone has a tried and true recipe I would love to have it.
OH, the filling.  Originally, poppy seeds were placed in the cookie. Later, jams, etc, were options.
So, I have plenty of the poppy seed mixture for another batch.
I might take a photo, if they turn out well.

Come over for Hamantaschen, and the coffee and tea will be ready in minutes !
