Not a new word, but the first time I have ever seen it written in a sentence about .....me.

Here is what happened.

Hubby saw a tree down in our neighborhood ( If you know hubby, no further comments needed )
Hubby finds the owner and owner is happy for hubby to clear the tree away.
When hubby returns, the tree has been cut up and stacked, ready for loading.
Three pickup loads
Owner is 86.
He had some help.

Now that is the kind of neighbor I would like to meet.
Really out of my comfort to approach a stranger but I kept thinking that I should let him know that he is a "good neighbor"

So armed with a loaf of fresh baked bread I made the call
Stranger, neighbor and soon to be friend, invited me inside.
I got to hear a little bit about his family, see some pictures and also, express my appreciation for his helping hand to hubby.  He shared some memories of his 40 + years in our neighborhood.  We said goodbye.
He stood at the door until I had safely circled out of the driveway

Well, a day or two later  an email arrived
(I left our calling card , in case he might need our help someday )

<><><> Hi folks:

Wanted to thank you for taking the time to stop by to introduce yourself that was quite cavalier.  Also, wanted to thank you for the wonderful treats that were something very special.  That was my early Christmas.

Henry

I plan to use the word myself, soon,  but I think I should try to stay in touch with such a gentleman, cavalier (noun)!

I live an exciting life.

A Day to remember

Sunshine at my door, though a little sprinkling from heaven

Little Angel dressed in red hooded raincoat and sparkle boots
Home baked Viennese Plum Cake
tasted a little sliver before walking out the door

Saying goodbye to our friend,  Nelson Wright

The Graveside

Prayer by Ralph, his brother
Scripture Psalm 139:1-18 by his son, Aaron
Message by friend Dave Penfield
Nelson was a man of God. All in attendance could relate to the memories he shared.  But the one that stood out to me:
During his final month, he lived in a home with others needing full time care.  During the day he would walk around to each room and enter for a moment and sing a hymn.  One of the ladies called out to the staff... Nelson is spending too much time there, he needs to come to my room.

Together we sang..    Face to Face with Crist My Savior

We placed a rose on the casket...

Daughter, Val, placing the final Rose

At 1:00 we gathered for the memorial

Al Cantrell opened with a greeting and prayer

Then Darrell took the mic and we all sang..
My Hope on Nothing Less is Built
 Mary Jane at the keyboard

The Obituary was read, the gospel was preached and Darrell shared some of his memories of Nelson

Again we joined in melody     How Great Thou Art

Open mic and a few memories were shared.
The first was Joseph Cantrell who read a beautiful letter he wrote starting with his life at a young age when Nelson was there for him and on through adult life, marriage and beyond.
Hard to speak after that, but a few more and this one from his daughter

He loved people. Especially strangers. Made sure to speak of Jesus at every opportunity.  He also liked to help others.  One stormy evening he was late coming home. Very late.  When he arrived at the door he was all smiles.  He had helped every stranded driver along the way and had dry socks for all.    Seems he carried some clothing along, just in case.

Our final hymn..  Lord Jesus, We Worship and Bow at Thy Feet
And give the the glory, the honor that's meet
While through Thee, O Savior our praises ascent
And join in the chorus that never shall end.

Never shall end, no never shall end
and join in the chorus that never shall end.

The Ice Cream truck had arrived...Nelson loved ice cream  and all were invited to partake       and all rain clouds rolled away ...

As you can see, we wore masks and kept our distance.

also, the memorial was taped, by Damon Tanner, and should be available to all soon

So much emotion and memories and yet,   for us, the day was not over

A school mate of Damon's, Tyler Griffin, died in his sleep.        He had  struggled for four years with the physical, emotional and financial burden from  a horrible event.

Nelson had struggled for four years with Alzheimer's.

It was too soon for Tyler, he was too young
It was too soon for Nelson, we loved him

Some of life's hurts we will not understand, but God is still in control.

God loves us and He always will.

Posting these notes, so I will never forget.  A life well lived,  for the Lord should always be remembered.

Miraculous encounter

Hi Marti...yes, two posts in one day..could not hold back.

here goes

Today…a little sunshine to my soul

Giving myself permission to slip into Nordstrom café for a cup of soup- I had walked in the almost empty mall for about 45 minutes.

I was sitting in the corner booth and could hear the voices of two ladies sitting a few tables away. ( no one else was there ) One was praying !   I smiled.   I decided to let them know how sweet it was, on my way out.

As I approached them, they were talking, but the older lady facing me paused and smiled.  I told them that I heard them praising the Lord ( that is what came out, not what I thought I was going to say ).   I can’t remember what the first response was, because as I turned toward the other lady, she looked familiar. Sort of.    I am Verla  Gresset , she said.
(  Greg and Verla were young adult teaching leaders with BSF  for many years, they go to my sisters church and I have seen them a few times at weddings and other events )

I smiled and  told them that Barbara Dorge is my sister and instantly a little conversation happened ...that is no surprise to fellow Christians.

It was a double blessing ... our comforting conversation and the feeling of confirmation that I was in the right place at the right time.

I live an exciting and blessed life

here is the word...breach

not a new word, but listen up

breach
/brēCH/
noun
  1. 1.
an act of breaking or failing to observe a law, agreement, or code of conduct.
    "a breach of confidence"
    Similar:
    contravention
    violation
    breaking
    nonobservance
    infringement
    transgression
    neglect
    dereliction
    failure to observe
    noncompliance with
    infraction
    delict
  2. 2.
a gap in a wall, barrier, or defense, especially one made by an attacking army.
    Similar:
    break
    rupture
    split
    crack
    fracture
    rent
    rift
    opening

But here is the thing... I don't think I have ever used it in a sentence, until now.

It is not easy to use the word breach in a sentence unless you are quoting from the Bible. It is in Proverbs 17, so check it out and find the verse.

Breach....

I like it.  It rhymes with preach, and peach

Also can be spelled breech, but that does not have  the same meaning.

The English language....so interesting.
