Can I have your recipe ?

Music to the ears of your average cook  ♫

This is my story

A Recipe.   I was looking for a way to use up some really ripe Bananas.  I have not made banana bread in years, but I do love it.  Especially, toasted with butter.      I finally came across this recipe with ingredients I had on hand.

A Funny recipe

the picture is labeled Hippe banana bread but at the top of the page it is

        Hippy Banana Bread.

Anyway you look at it,  any name you want to call it, it is good !

Sometimes I make 3 mini loaves and a dozen muffins

Sometimes I make one batch without nuts  ( the preference of two friends)

I always make a double batch

Since this covid has kept me home, I decided I wanted to be productive and helpful in the neighborhood.  So when a neighbor shops for us I share a loaf.   When out on our walks, we take a couple muffins to neighbors who live alone, or just to anyone we want to !

As I mentioned...it is good....how do I know it is good?

Read on

Kathy,  Thank you for the muffins.  They were delicious!  No hurry but I would love the recipe.  They remind me of the Morning Glory Muffins at Metropolitan Market only better.  You are dear neighbors.  Love, Janet ♪♪

Hi Kathy!  We just finished dinner and had the cake you gifted us for dessert.  It is AMAZING!  I'd love the recipe!  Thank you so very much for your constant kindness and support!  I'm so happy that we are friends and neighbors!  xoLiz  ♫

Hello Kathy,
 ♫
I didn't get a chance to thank you for stopping by and dropping off the best banana bread I have ever tasted! We can't stop talking about it so we would greatly appreciate if you could share your recipe with us. ♪

Then there is the sweet boy who takes care of  our mail, etc, when ( or if ) we travel.  His mom says he loves the bread, so when he dropped by with some groceries I was excited for the opportunity to hand him a little loaf  ( just baked this morning ) ♫

Oh.  there is this little gem from the little one next door.. ♫

Her grandpa and lots of other relatives were coming from all across America for a visit. So she wanted to share some muffins with them.    Did I bake them?     You bet !

You get the idea

And that is my story for today.... Hungry?

Wait until you look inside

The family inside is more interesting than the decor

Room after room with a style like only my friend could make happen

We met over 60 years ago. I was the babysitter, then worked in Dr. K's office

We have stayed friends through some hard times
They lost their oldest son, Daymon, in a car accident when he was still in high school
That is probably why the first question she asked was  " How is Damon?"
And she asked about Meeting, on Sunday    ( that tickled me )

She is an artist... this bunny is a favorite
And she let me pick out one to take home

The next son died too early.

It was her 90th birthday last week so lots of cards and gifts on display

There are two daughters.
The oldest and her hubby are now living in the lower level....due to virus travel issues. Mom says she is an excellent cook.
The youngest is down in Oregon and described by her mother as
very intelligent, knows something about everything.
knows the Bible in and out and upside down,  and yes
she still believes the world is flat. ( the words of a positive thinking mama )

And this....this is the ride up..and up.... you can start in the basement and ascend  two stories

Master bedroom and bath  and

and outside the powder room

A little deck with chairs and flowers
Not the best photo of my friend, but I came without warning
She is always dressed in a "fabulous" style
Just like her home, only JoAnne

Then, up another flight of stairs to the roof.... used to have a hot tub, but a couple years ago made a patio

Going down now
the other way
circular stairway

Quick stop in the powder room

Hard to say goodbye.   Though it has been maybe two years since we were together.
( usually it is for a wedding or a funeral )
We don't seem to skip a beat, always plenty to chat about.

Memories.... one boy got upset at a TV show and shot his BB gun at the screen
While checking the aquarium several fish were found floating
playing ping pong and out goes the ceiling light
Starting a fire in the den fireplace...roof caught on fire

A generous, very generous family.  Dr. K gave me my first car  ( wish I had a picture) Baby blue *55 Cadillac convertible  ( His dad gave him a pink one )   One Christmas I received a hair dryer, another an electric shaver.
And today,  I came home with two purses and a picture ...hand painted picture  and very adorable purse

Time to move on....

On we go again

Garage sale of the century !

That is my sister, in green, always making a nice display

Always a fun time with my sister and always interesting to see what is interesting to other folks.
( does bother sister that someone shows interest in something, but then  puts it down...)

This year the most interesting part is...Ofra.
About 6 years ago, this lady came to our garage sale and found many things that she liked....and bought them. in fact, she came back the next day  and not only bought a few more things, but brought some of her art work that she was preparing for her rabbi.
Wait, doesn’t stop there.

We came back from a vacation and found a package at our front door. Ofra found a book that reminded her of the photo card that she had purchased... a photo of our farm in Spokane.
Well, now we know her address and we make  sure she has the date for the next year, and the next and..

Well, this year, she called about 6 days before our sale, frantic. She has to move.
Downsize. A subtle hint that we would like to help and bingo, she was happy. Thursday evening, Friday morning and again Saturday morning, she brought items

She is also entertaining , just being herself. So we add that to our sale notes.
She loves to talk about her homeland.  Got an hour?
She is very generous and thoughtful.  First morning she brought homemade cookies.  Next morning she brought breakfast bars.

Most of the sales that we appreciated were for my niece. A safe, which had the highest price $20 and a framed print that my sister said at least five times was ugly.

Seems there is always something that ends up in my house ...not sure how it gets there but...

A purse lamp...

ok. pretty cute.  Not exactly the right place, but works for now.

And that brings joy too.
  I read that somewhere

In the end, we gifted Value Village with a van full of delights. The wait in line was only 48 minutes.... people watching and then that feeling of “joy” that comes when you have parted with something that will bring happiness to someone else.

But wait....not over yet... a young man came back on Wednesday looking for something that his wife had wanted... sure enough, it did not make the V V trip and was waiting in a box in the rec room, just for him, for her.

Wait.. on Friday, a little fellow came back on his bike.  He says he comes every year, mainly looking for something for his sister.  Well, the garage was cleared out, but he asked about the safe.  Gone.  So, he will have to wait until next year for a treasure.

We could not get everything into the van, so we are trying to "sell" a couple items on line. But, we are ready to close the journal on our garage sale for this year.
oops... Tiffany took some things home and had a spur of the moment garage sale...Sold $10 for Ofra and $10 for me
Done !

I live an exciting life !

p,s, first year Ofra came: 2015

chapter 3

Friday

TIFF’s breakfast casserole and Anita’s (Tanners) monkey bread

Boys all went fishing

Girls all went into town.

First stop..second hand store. Huge, but did not find much there.

Next stop the Walmart store.

Found post cards and some chocolate candy. The girls found what they were looking for.

On the way out !!!!!!

Tiff and Anita were a little ahead of me when I heard a pop...pop kind of sound. The girls sort of paused and looked at each other. What did I miss ?, I asked.
The man ahead of them, who had just smacked his own rear about 5 times, turned around and yelled..something.Something not nice.
He kept going and was yelling loudly ..obscenities... in the direction of our car. We held back and then as he kept going and yelled out the N word and pulled out a knife, we headed for the car.
The girls could see what was happening...someone getting out of his car was the next “victim” of words.
We were out of the parking lot and entering the freeway when we saw the lights and heard the sirens.... Sheriff car and then 2 or 4 more.
Kind of wished we had been close enough to see the action, but we will read all about it soon.

Stop at the variety store. T shirts for the littles.

Home and great left overs for lunch

And a little homemade chocolate ice cream in a little chocolate dipped cone.

Bit of a nap.

Walk to the park with Darrell. Talked to Debbie at the office of the city ..

Got a few brochures.

Home

Dale and Damon were golfing

About 6 we left for dinner destination.

Me? Spring salad, Creme brûlée .

Tried to spot the riders of this cruiser...hmmm

Stopped at Mike’s for ice cream

Me? Death by chocolate.

Home. Littles watched a Lego movie

Then

Finished pirates of the Caribbean puzzle

Law and order.

That ends another good day at Chelan

Chapter two

Chelan..

Thursday.

Blueberry farm ....great blueberries...huge and plentiful

We got to sit at the same table.

Danish waffles...light and delicious...next time I am going get # 3 it is the same with peach topping.

Bought 3 bars of blueberry soap. ( one for Zena, one for the girls next door the other, my sister )

Also a bar of Pikake for me.

Lots of good picking...huge berries, and not many pickers this year.

Grampy is the determined picker
Look hard and you might see him between bushes

Great start to our morning... now, back to the condo, pool, and relaxation

One grandpa called out to daughter... "what is the code for the front door?"  Daughter at the pool says," the garage is open"... Grandpa says, "no it’s not". Daughter says “you are at the wrong house”

Some of us rode into town (Chelan,  we are staying in Mason )

Walked around a bit. My favorite kitchen store: bumble bee cookie cutter and little bumble bee wooden spoon

Dinner at home: lettuce wraps.

Then the real home made ice cream.    Mr C brought 3 ice cream makers and all the ingredients for some very great ice cream.   He started on Tuesday.  These things take a while.  And it is worth the wait.    Vanilla, fresh strawberry and Chocolate !
Do not ask how many scoops ...

Damon made popcorn...ate way too much.

Tiff and I watched the first half of Hamilton

Then she went to bed

I watched...saving Mr. Banks. Good, eyes swimming

Does anyone else cry when she cries?

The end of another good day
