Million dollar hug
Well, it is not a secret that May is my birthday month.
It is not a secret that I had a great week celebrating.
Also, there is more celebrating to come.
But, tonight was special.
The Olive Garden gives you a free dessert to celebrate your birthday
( yes, I know some folks don't like getting those promotional emails, but this one, I am ok with )
Take a peek
Not a difficult choice...When at an Italian restaurant, order an Italian dessert. Made fresh and served with chocolate and berry sauces.
Here is my story.
Our corner table was just in front of the doorway to a large private dining room. It was set up for a party. Soon a few people arrived with balloons and packages and a dancing little girl in a white party dress. Then a few more guests arrived...maybe Grandma and Grandpa...Uncle... A room full of happy.
After finishing as much of the Zeppoli as I had room for, I decided to wish that little gal a Happy Birthday.
So, I moved around the corner and though the room was full of conversation, they paused as I entered to say
"Looking for the birthday girl,
It is my birthday too "
They all were happy and cheered Happy Birthday greetings to me
As I started to slip around the table I told them
"I am not going to ask you how old I am "
they laughed
Stopping close to the birthday girl I said.
"But I know how old you are ! "
I handed her a $5. ( yes, it was her 5th birthday )
Someone said... what do you say?
of course she said, with a big smile Thank you !
Someone said... give her a hug
she got up off her chair, and she did
That was when something triggered in my heart
( coming on right now, too )
As I felt those little arms around me I said
"I have a little granddaughter in Minnesota and I can't hug her"
Had to make a quick exit...with thank yous and smiles abounding.
I had no idea I would be so blessed by that moment
So thankful for little ideas that pop into my head
I live an exciting life

a birthday story
A True birthday story
For her birthday, every year, the girls go together to the casino.
This year, there are only three girls
to celebrate and the driver is 92 and needs a walker. So, a young friend said “
I want to meet your girlfriends, let me drive “ So she did.
They went to Casino
No. 1. That is where they still allow smoking So Driver stayed in the car.
Pretty soon they were off to the new and luxury casino. Driver went in with the girls and they had a
great dinner. When it was time to leave,
our driver friend went to get her car. When she came around to the front lobby,
she went in and saw that girlfriend with
the walker was heading into the ladies room. Driver girlfriend decided to pop a
coin into the lobby machine.
BINGO !
She
won the jackpot $ 1.500.00 !
The management was not too happy to pay up to someone who
had not “paid in” but in the end, they did . A nice reward for young driver friend!

Happy Day
I have never blogged in the morning.
but, it is my Birthday and I can do what I want to.
So, I decided I could treat myself to 1/2 of a coconut cupcake.
So I head outside. No one seemed to notice. The man I live with was reading the paper and did not hear me go outside three times.
First. to check the temperature
Second to bring my "breakfast" out.
Third time I was carrying a little devoltional book.
just a note: I am sure most women know where all the family members are at any given time. The phone rings for your son, you know he is outside shooting baskets. The dishwasher needs to be unloaded and you know where your kitchen helper of the week is hiding. Neighbors come to play and you know exactly where to send them. ( p.s. be glad, soon enough no one will be coming or calling because they have all grown up and flown away )
I love to sit in the sun in the morning and read and pray and drink coffee. And today the sun is calling me.
That 1/2 cucpcake was so good and so small, I thought it would be a good idea to eat another. Breakfast ! There is protein in that butter I put in the cupcake and icing.
So I have started my day talking to myself. The man I have been living with has gone. He cuts wood. But I want to give him credit for having a birthday gift for me on the breakfast table.
A cookbook from England. He bought it last month when he went to England without me. But next year, when I have a bigger birthday he is going to take me with him.
London.... Paris.... Zurich.
I do love cookbooks. And this one is all about baking the way Mum bakes. I love it already.
I would add a photo, but I must get on with my day.
Happy Day to YOU ! ( or me, since I am talking to myself )
There are still two cupcakes left over from last night..
It was a Happy Birthday to Beth
The coffee is on, come on over ..........

I have been waiting for this event since, well, May 30th. Because that is my birthday and Damon takes me to Top Pot for my birthday every year ( this is the second year)
The sign - Why do they say " please do not touch"? They know that someone will at least place her tiny little finger on part of it, they expect it. So did I?
Ask that tall dark and handsome guy who is sitting across from me.
