October 31

It happens every year

and it is the only time I can hand out gospel messages and no one says no

So this year I packed up 140 bags.  I found a fun paper with games to play and then the message.

Along with 3 or 4 pieces of candy in a cute bag and tied with a bow

I often wear an old bridesmaid gown...yellow...like Princess Belle, but this year I wore a glow in the dark black spider shirt.

We were watching as large groups of kids arrived ( some young, some not so young)  So hubby thought we better make up more bags.  With his help, the total became 181.

When the this fun family came, we hit 180.

They wanted to pose for the photo because they recognized hubby,  he is a traffic patrol man in the mornings for school traffic.   They were very polite

With that...our candy was gone... we turned off the lights. It was about 7:45  Still a few knocks on the door.
Yes it was a very big night, next year I am shooting for 200 !

( need to check with the family two doors down, they served hot chocolate, they might have had more customers than we did...we have a long driveway )

a few comments:

(checking the photos from previous years posted on the screen door)

Oh, I see my friend..oh that's me

I love seeing these pictures

What a great idea

This is the weird house

(the door opens )

Is this the house with Christian papers?

Yes, is that ok?   ....no response
Trick or Treat...again and again
and most of the time   Thank You !!

this will probably always be my favorite...

Yes, they won a prize that year... maybe 10 years ago.    Who would not love those boys !?!

I live an exciting life

happy Halloween

on the run... just off the press...

Yes, 152 treat bags ready with a true story included

getting in the mood

                                Happy Halloween

First group....very polite boys
biggest smile lives across the street
another lad recognized Darrell as the traffic guy on school days
All said thank you !!

Two girls...so happy and found their picture from last year

several very happy girls took photos of the photos

Guys came and stood there
I said " Aren't you going to say something?"
"OH,  Happy Halloween "
Then, they saw the photo door and took pictures

two very sweet girls saw themselves and were so happy

then their mom came and checked out the door display

Mostly last years guests...but a few from years past

One large group of kids came and one fellow said
" Why don't you just leave the candy on the doorstep and..
that was when I interrupted him and said

" Then you would not be able to say Thank You"
Pause..."Thank you "

One sweet family ( Dad, Mom, twin girls ) came and chatted. He said he grew up here in Cherry Crest and now lives in that house. He remembered buying ice cream here !
OH...I remember you and your brother....hugged..and then they posed for a photo

Welcome back Sam !

Last guest arrived at 9:30...kept the lights on because I still had 46 bags of candy.

So, total for 2019,   106 Guests at my door

It was a good year

October's big event

It started a week ago.

Little man was my helper this year
Two fun size, two middle size, two candy kisses
and  a true story about Jesus and His love

And this is the main reason I like this holiday. I can share the "good news" with anywhere from 90 to 190 visitors
and no one says no.

Bringing a bottle of "Lemonade " into the living room is not usually in order, so I reminded little man to be careful..
just as it tipped over.
So, the next break took place  in the family room.

And a little popcorn and a movie is in order

This year I wore the glow in the dark spider shirt from my friend Cheri
and glasses that came from somewhere

Last year I wore my Belle costume
( a yellow bridesmaid dress I bought at
my friend Judy's garage sale )

Pictures of all the visitors are taken
Some cooperate more than others
Photos from previous years are posted on the door

It was the final group of the evening
About 8:30
These little charmers at the end
I asked if they were the ones who did not want their picture taken and they assured me they were not. In fact, Miss Blondie, took her jacket off and posed ...with treat bag number 95
I think... it was like saving the best til last

( I did not get permission to post any photos so hopefully all the disguises are "working" )

How many visitor came to your door?

october 31

It is more than Halloween at our house

We usually get between 125 and 150 little people at our door carrying a container, wearing a smile and saying " trick or treat".

This year I was ready with 140 little treat bags.

Each bag gets plenty of candy and
" The Rest of his time"
a true story worth reading and remembering

Then the front door is covered with pictures from previous years

If you can name the princess, there is a prize
Photo by  Darrell on his 90's flip phone

And here they come....

These little firemen came and
smiled
and said
The fire is coming...
and sure enough

FIRE  !

and this one.....

The fellow on the left
he won the prize !
And you can too. Just name the princess !

and

Across the street
by day

and by night

look close

now you see him ↑
now you don't  ↓

And the music goes on...

Once a year

If I was taking a vote, I am sure the top picture would win, for best outfits of the century!
One took hours of Grampy in the  shop  and Mom on line, etc.
The other took a trip to the closet and out for KFC dinner.

But that was three years ago, maybe four  and this year that little mouse  helped me get ready for the group that comes to my door.    We can count on 100 to 150 guests.

He did not eat a single piece.  He busied himself by finding all the taffy in green wrappers, pink wrappers, yellow wrappers and blue wrappers.  I usually put a couple in each bag, but little man was so serious with his task, I did not want to disturb him.   So I put at least 5 wrapped candies in each bag ....

and one  gospel tract.  This is my favorite. A true story by my friend Berwick Hyland

With 106 treat bags ready, the evening begins.

Yes, I am smiling, with my hot cider, but the thought of missing out on  treating my own grandchildren , just about made me cry.   Through the years I have always had special bags for the little people in the neighborhood that I know.   also, I take pictures and post them on the door ( not the internet ) .   It is fun to hear their voices before ringing the doorbell..."Oh, that is me"..."Look at that one".     BUT, the main treat, is knowing that each child is taking home the Good News, in an easy to read booklet.  As they say their greetings and thanks, I tell them to read the true story and then , as I did last night, after 103 visitors, I prayed for at least one to believe the true message !

Once a year I can share a real gift

and it is eagerly  received
And that is why I like Halloween
