pearls of wisdom

well,  pearls for sure

or, are they really pearls ?

Here is what happened

Yesterday, Valentines day, I was on my way into town to run some errands and I realized I had not put on my heart earrings.   No earrings.  The little holes were empty.
I do not like that
I carry an emergency pair with me...most of the time..but, alas, not in this purse

My first stop is at Bellevue Square shopping center.  There is a thrift store way up on the 3rd level.
I head there.  Yes, they have a very cute little pair of "pearl" earrings.  $2.00
I buy them.Quickly wipe them with my hanky.  I put them in my ears.   I am happy.

Later in the day I think about my evening visit with a friend who enjoys nice things. Real Jewelry. In the past she has quizzed me to find out if my earrings were "real".   I considered making a quick change before heading there...but, forgot.

Sure enough.  She asked the question
"I love your earrings, are they real?"

Now...
What would YOU say?

and

Do you want to know what I said?

I am listening...

A new chapter

A three to four month chapter

Well it started in December, when  Richard came to stay in our guest suite.
He leaves in the morning, no breakfast, not even any coffee, and when he comes home, he has already eaten dinner.
He is just "renting" a little room for a 6 to 12 month project with Microsoft ( about two miles from our house)
He is a friend of a friend and now our friend.  His home is in Vancouver where he goes every other weekend.   He calls his wife every night !

But last week, a young friend, Danylo, came to stay with us...live with us.  He gets up, eats breakfast (no coffee ) goes to Bellevue College, then comes home for lunch and dinner.   He makes his own meals when convenient,  and yesterday, he went to class, interviewed for a job, was hired, bought some clothing to accommodate... all in one day ..then started work today

His parents have moved to California and are starting a new job.  When the school year is over, he hopes to join them.

But for now, he is pretty much on his own.  Yes, he has eaten some meals with us, but last night, he was not hungry until 10:00 p.m.   So, he was definitely on his own.

I want to make sure and remember ( when I look back on my journal ) so far, 5 days, and I have no complaints.  Only surprises.  Oh, and yesterday he said   " You look very nice "

enough said.

( there is sure  more to come )

Going home

                                                       In Tribute to Oscar Froese

A gathering of friends and family
tables were set .. standing room only

Honoring a man who had been making people smile  for almost 100 years

The Froese family
A history of the Gustaf Froese family was shared
Oscar was about number 5 of 7 boys and then little sister Marti

We had known Oscar for many years... there were some  things we knew about him and some things were new...

He played tennis until he was in his 90's
He was a fun and friendly man who loved The Lord
He was known and loved by many
He was a few months short of 70 years of married to his love Ida Marie
In his town he was known as the calendar man.
He passed out Christian calendars by the 100's
In the week before he went home, he checked with his friend Gordon
" Did you get calendars to Dr... and Dr.... and .."
Yes, Gordon had been there.

Much  was shared about this mighty man. Not a tall man, but a strong and friendly, outgoing man.

Many grandchildren from the Gustaf family were in attendance, though there are many, many more.

The program

My great "take away"...  He shared his love for The Lord with calendars.
How am I sharing my love for The Lord?

Dan Brimlow took many photos, but here are a couple he might have missed

Blessed to call him our friend.

going places

That is when I watch a movie..

on a plane

The latest made my eyes swim a bit.  One of the main characters was a dog. Even though dogs don't talk, usually, it felt like a true story.  It was in the comedy category and there were some funny scenes.  But it was a love story. Two love stories in one.

I had never heard of it, but that is not saying much. I recommended  it to my friend who loves dogs more than some folks like kids and she said she had heard of it, but never watched it.

I love some dogs,  but regardless,   I am recommending this one.

Can you name it?

one hint:   The art of.......

I live an exciting life
and sometimes emotional
